Firehouse Subs was a HUGE deal when I lived in the South. There'd be lines out the door every weekday lunch if the location was anywhere near a business complex. I was super sad to leave Firehouse Subs behind when I moved to Missouri a few years ago and I would make sure and hit up FS any time I went back to visit. You can imagine how excited I was when I heard a FS would be opening up near me... Suck on that, Quiznos!!! Firehouse has white and wheat bread buns available and a variety of high quality meats - ham, bacon, turkey, roast beef. The toppings are standard - onions, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, spicy mustard, etc. I don't personally like pickles but my pickle-loving friends adore the ones that are included with the sandwiches and thankfully for me they are wrapped separately now so as not to leak pickle juice onto the bread. Thoughtful. Firehouse Subs are served HOT on toasted bread - I always get the Club on a Sub. The meat is warmed separately which is a nice touch so that all parts of the sammie that are supposed to be hot are HOT. I can't speak for their limited cold offerings like the tuna salad. I will say though, their chili isn't very good. Tasted like Wendy's chili but cost about 3x as much. Oh yeah... there's the whole hot sauce thing too - a huge "bar" of sauces rated 1-10 on their hotness scale. Not necessarily my thing and I know that makes me lame because it's a FIREhouse sub joint... but if I were into hot sauce I'd appreciate it. Although I'm not much of a soda drinker I did notice their new Coca Cola Freestyle machine and it looks awesome. You can select pretty much any Coke product - root beer, vanilla Coke, cherry, etc. Next time I'm in I'm going to get a combo just so I can have a little something different to drink with my sub. The only reason I held back from giving this shop a full five stars is that sometimes the staff seems a little blah, they love to play Fox News on the tv, and there's been times I waited too long for just one sandwich. Also, the parking is a nightmare because, well, there is none. Try your luck on the street or in a garage but if it's a weekend on the Plaza it'll be pretty frustrating. All that aside... next time you're in the mood for a hot sub give 'em a shot!

Went in for a birthday sub and asked for easy sauce, when I got home to eat it looked like a jar mayo. I was very shocked with what I received. Called them to ask what happened, he told me the person was new and he would write my name down and to come back. They made me another one on the house and it was an awesome sandwich. They kept my business though I don't understand how they could mess it up? They both were standing right there.

I went to Firehouse for the first time yesterday, and I'm so glad I did! My sandwich was better than any other sub place I've been to in the Kansas City area. The service was also great. Employees checked on us several times at our table which is rare for a deli type setting. I'll definitely be back.

Never heard of the firehouse until coming to KC. I ate here last night. The restaurant is clean which was nice. Unfortunately it seemed to lack any character, definitely like your staple chain store. I had the meatball sandwich which was great, unfortunately my order was slightly messed up. I'm not sure if the cashier couldn't understand me ( I was born and raised in the midwest), but he basically gave me the opposite of every question he asked me and just gave me a dumbfounded look between answers. Small size drink, charged me for a larger size, order stay, given it to go, etc. I would be willing to eat here again, the sandwich was great, but I would rather explore another eatery the next time I'm around the Plaza.

First time at this chain. I normally dont like sandwiches but this was actually pretty good. Everyone was very pleasant and it had a nice view of the park.

I have been coming to Firehouse for some time now and have to say that this one just keeps getting better. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and seem to actually care about the customers. The smokehouse beef and cheddar is, simply put, awesome. I could eat it three times a day. Yesterday, they even had a firehouse subs Santa out walking around giving out free stuff. I love this place!!!

Nice sub. A little pricey but worth it. I had the Club-on-a-Sub and it was fitted with generous portions of meat and cheese. A very well-made sandwich. Service was good.

MEATBALL SUB IS DAHHHH BOMB. The staff is friendly, it's always yummy and I dig the pickle. The Italian and Turkey subs are pretty delicious but this is the best meatball sub I've had in town. No lies. LOVE IT.

Not a fan. Overly processed junk food. Service is usually good though. Managers are good guys.

I have never stood in a line at this place! However, I do avoid yummy places like this during meal times!! I first discovered Firehouse in Florida! LOVED IT!! I highly recommend the Italian Sub! SOO YUMMY!! I love the atmosphere, and the friendliness of the staff!

Great stuff. I had the beef brisket, my son had the meatball and my wife had the ham & cheese. We were all very happy with the sandwiches. My son wanted to go back for every meal while we were hanging at the plaza. I would have agreed to it but the wife rules. :0)

This place sucked. Dirty floors and tables. The food was bland, never going again.

You can now also order online and they have Coca Cola Freestyle now!! Add this to my review from before and I dont know if there is a better sub place in town!

Definitely be going back. I hate Subway, Goodcents closed in Westport and there's not a Quizno's in the area. Toasty, warm subs with melted cheese is perfect for a cold day. The meat is good quality and of course they have like 20 different hot sauces to choose from which is amazing. Great addition to the plaza, especially if you just want a quick, not so pricey meal. Hope this place sticks around.

Definitely a good place in comparison to other subs like Quizno's and Subways. Went about with the Engineer save mayo and it definitely was one of the better toasted subs I've had. Atmosphere was good and the service was prompt. Only downsides for me were a slight confusion on the meals (didn't know you picked out/get chips) and the cherry limeade was not my thing at all.
